In an ironic twist of fate, the formerly Pentecostal-shunning Holy Land Experience has become absorbed into the mothership of flamboyant charismatic experience: TBN.
In a May 2001 Charisma article, HLE head Marvin Rosenthal explained why charismatics "need not apply for any positions at the attraction, not even for jobs as hot dog vendors at the park's Oasis Cafe": "We are not charismatics. We love them. We appreciate them. But we would not offer them a job."
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the park had come on hard financial times when it was approached by the cash-bloated Trinity Broadcasting Network. TBN vice president Paul Crouch Jr. explained that he hopes HLE will eventually become a "faith-based" version of Universal Studios.
